Still of the Day

The inspiration to paint Still of the Day (20x30) was due to the combination of colors of these two dories, but also because of the tranquility of the scene. Boats at slack tide can seem to lay on an undisturbed glass of water. That moment  before the tide turns and water begins flowing out or in again, seems to me as if time has stopped and the world is holding its breath. This painting depicts that moment of calm and peace.
