Pedestrians
This 26 x18 oil painting is a depiction of what it's like to feel small in a big city. Here, I allowed the canvas to climb higher than I normally would, for the purpose of emphasizing the scale of people compared to the tall buildings. Another aspect of the city is the crowd. With so many people in one place at one time, a dance plays out to avoid bumping into each other... some being more skillful at it than others. I like the composition of this piece, and wanted to design the mass of people to take on one form. And the spots of color offset the overall gray hue of buildings, adding sparks of life to an otherwise drab city.
