This rustic building has a lot of character. It reminded me of a pair of broken-in shoes or a worn leather belt that has shaped itself to my body. I painted this scene according to the way I interpreted the subject: informally expressionistic, while trying to capture the worn architectural character that's only legitimized by time. It's also the perfect place for a secondhand clothing store to show off the best of yesterday's stylish leftovers. A great place for college students to be chic for cheap. I put in the lone girl viewing the store's contents. She's debating with herself over whether to go into the store and be tempted to buy something that would perk up her life a little, or not. Because isn't that what we do during those times when we're on the short side of life, ponder every expense?
