This is another variation of Inside & Out, the first painting I did of this cozy, visually delicious Boston eatery called Bakey's. Though it's a similar view of the same scene, Outside & In tells a different story. Here, the reflections of buildings across the street have interesting shapes of their own; they undulate, and squeeze like an accordion, and form a roller coaster effect which creates a lot of movement. Because the window panes divide the painting into static shapes (as if there were six different paintings), the movement is a counterbalance and pulls the viewer through one panel to the next.
