Restaurants are appealing places. The design of tables covered with white tablecloths, round shiny plates and glittering silverware…all contribute to the visual pleasure. Some eateries are more elegant than others, of course. Some have a mood lighting that creates a dreamworld. Some place real flowers as the table’s centerpiece, adding a splash of natural color to nature’s offered cuisine. This scene is an al fresco setting. The preparation at the start of the new day demonstrates the care most restaurants take to enhance the dining experience and make it a pleasant one. What interested me about this scene is the lighting. It is early in the day. The sun streams in at an angle to wash everything in light and make the centerpiece bowl highly reflective, which give hints of the surrounding room. All-in-all, I think the painting has a nice feel.
