Pensive

She stood alone at the edge of the ocean, peering  far out to where the horizon meets the sky. I wondered what she was thinking at that moment. But then I realized that, in moments like this, we all pretty-much think about the same thing: How vast the sea is; how humbling small it makes us feel; how solitary we all are in this life. But then, as happens, we come back to ourselves to feel the warmth of the sun, and the soft sand under our feet and the cool water lapping our toes. I have been through this thought line many times and find it spiritually refreshing. And when I see others in this moment, I feel a kinship. And I realize we all are not as alone as we think.
