Sitting Idle

This lobster boat didn't launch this day. It's decks were unusually clear, neat and uncluttered. So, I took the opportunity to paint it while there was no activity on it. What makes it appealing, to me at least, are the broad shapes of its structure, the color turquoise standing out in the sunshine, and of course the vibrant lobster buoys hanging off its side, casting color into the water below. Smooth surfaces contrasting off the rippled water add more interest to the overall scene of this 11x14 oil painting.
