The renovated restaurant in the North End of Boston offers beauty in the floral window treatment framed in oak and granite. But it also allows an interesting glimpse into the exquisite interior and reflecting architecture (and competing restaurant) from across the street, simultaneously. As with the other reflection paintings I have been doing, this one has even greater depth. The reflections are multidimensional, so the angles offer alternate views of the restaurant's interior and exterior. Muted, both recede into the background, "locked in" by the sharp focus of window frame, granite wall, and potted flowers. But beyond the visual depiction of this scene, the underlying theme has its own harmonious beauty between the union of man made design structures with nature's organic works of art. To me, this represents the creative spirit of our planet.
